Every year, the Community Foundation of Des Moines County distributes grants to area nonprofits. CFDMC uses an online grant application process. The 2026 Fall Large Impact Grant Application link will open for submissions on September 1st, 2026.
The Community Foundation of Des Moines County Board of Directors has the responsibility of approving grants.
Rules & Regulations for 2026
Origin and Purpose
The Grants and Due Diligence Committee is a volunteer grant committee made up of board members from the Community Foundation of Des Moines County and makes awards from various endowed funds held in trust by the Foundation through its partnership with the Keokuk Area Community Foundation.
Restrictions
The Community Foundation of Des Moines County makes grants only to Des Moines County 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, and qualified governmental agencies. Grants are not awarded in the following areas: annual fundraising, organizational endowment funds, deficit financing, or grants to individuals. The Fall Large Impact Grant minimum and maximum grant awards will be announced on August 19th. Extraordinary amounts may be given if an exceptional need is seen by the Community Foundation of Des Moines County. Only one project per organization will be considered.
Deadline
Applications and accompanying materials are due on or before Friday, October 9, 2026. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Applications will only be received thru the online portal. The application link will be available on September 1st, 2026 at cfdmc.org/grants. Interviews for Grant finalists will be held the week of November 9th, 2026. More details will be announced by August 19th. Fall Large Impact Grant Reports for 2025
If your non-profit organization was a 2025 recipient of a CFDMC Fall Large Impact grant, you are required to submit a completed Grant Report by October 1st, 2026. Your organization will not be eligible for a 2026 Grant if a Grant Report has not been received. The 2025 CFDMC Grant Report Form can be found by logging into the online Grant Portal. The 2025 CFDMC Grant Report must be on file prior to submitting a new grant application.

An IRS determination letter is required establishing that the applicant is a 501 (c) (3) organization or a notarized form demonstrating that the organization is a qualified exempt government agency of Des Moines County Iowa. If the organization receives a grant, the address listed on the IRS 501 (c) (3) Determination Letter will be used in the payment (please make sure the contact information of your organization's IRS 501 (c) (3) Determination Letter is up to date). The IRS letter of determination can be uploaded thru the application portal.
