"CFDMC Sees Record-Level Growth"

Community Foundation of Des Moines County grew to record levels in 2024 with its two largest funds growing to more than $1 million each. The Community Foundation of Des Moines County is proud to announce its assets have grown to over $5.22 Million as of Dec. 31, 2024.


Milestones of this growth are:

  • Asset growth from 2023 was $1,708,394 or 48.6% after fees and grants

  • Five new funds totaling over $993,968. with two new family funds of $400,000

  • Total contributions of $1,389,096 including the five new funds

  • 1st Family Fund founded in 2011 grows to over in $1 million in 14 years

  • Margaret Hansen Community Impact Fund founded in 2006 grows to second-largest fund with over $1 million in assets


The foundation has grown tremendously since its inception in 2006 to the time it gave out more than $137,000 in grants in 2024 to community nonprofits.


The Community Foundation of Des Moines County has been created by and for the people of Des Moines County. The Community Foundation's main goals are to support charitable projects and programs in Des Moines County (giving out $959,613.37 in grants since 2009) and to attract additional funds to assist donors in creating lasting legacies through a variety of giving options.
