The Community Foundation of Des Moines County’s Wilson Family Foundation Endowment has awarded a total of $23,124 to Burlington Area Homeless Shelter for General Support, Salvation Army for COVID-19 Relief Support and TransitionsDMC, Inc to use for the Cause For Hope Campaign.
TransitionsDMC, Inc’s goal is a paradigm shift for the Burlington community and this population. Those who face homelessness depend on TransitionsDMC as they try to navigate a new way of life. The Cause for Hope Campaign is geared toward securing a clean and safe environment for those who need the services. Some need support for their footing after devastating loss; some simply require a place to lay their head at night to recharge and regroup.
“I’ve supported the Homeless Shelter, Salvation Army, and TransitionsDMC for some time because I can still remember when I was a child my mother would have me be very quiet and hide when the bill collectors were knocking on our door. And I recall later as an adult thinking how she must have felt so abandoned without the help of agencies like these.” said Dennis Wilson, fund owner and Treasurer/Director at the Community Foundation of Des Moines County.
